PRESS RELEASE
Blunk Announces Free IDE-Simulator-RTOS Download
Sacramento, CA (August 7, 2026) - Available as a download from their home page, Blunk Microsystems announces a free package consisting of the following components:
CrossStep: Blunk’s IDE for embedded programming that includes a source level debugger, project manager/builder, windows ports of the GNU toolchain, and advanced RTOS kernel-awareness,
A fast RISC-V instruction set simulator,
TargetOS-Lite: A fast minimal footprint RISC-V RTOS,
Demos of Blunk’s TCP/IP and flash file system components
These are integrated so that you can be running significant RTOS, file system, and networking applications within minutes of completing the installation. You can use the provided sample applications as the starting point for your own applications.
The CrossStep project manager automatically checks dependencies and timestamps to quickly rebuild the application after source code changes. Its source code, stack, variable, search, and break point windows allow you to quickly navigate, observe, and debug your programs.
The instruction set simulator includes simulated UART and timer hardware, allowing you to observe and step-through interrupt service routines and event-driven task context switches. The timer’s countdown frequency is linked with real-world time, so you can set and observe realistic timer delays.
The CrossStep IDE, free RTOS, and middleware demo libraries can be used separately from the simulator. Support for several low cost eval boards is coming soon.
